Phytoweb

Innovation in Plant Management

Phytoweb is the project, developed by Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and ANVE, representing a groundbreaking innovation in the horticultural sector.

Phytoweb is a dedicated portal for plant management, providing users with easy and immediate access to phytosanitary requirements.

This portal is completely free and only requires the creation of a user profile. Phytoweb offers the following key functions:

1. Handling Guidelines:

Through a user-friendly search engine, users can access phytosanitary requirements for the management of ornamental, fruit, and forestry plants. Search parameters include botanical names, materials, origin, destination, pest categories, and harmful organisms. The search can be customized with multiple criteria, and the results are presented in concise sheets that can be downloaded and printed. Each sheet corresponds to a specific regulatory requirement.
Currently, the phytosanitary regulations primarily pertain to internal movements within the European Union and import from third countries. However, in 2024, Phytoweb is planning to expand its coverage to include regulatory requirements for exports to third countries, with a special focus on the United Kingdom and Turkey.

2. Risk Analysis:

Users have the capability to conduct pest risk analyses. This tool facilitates risk estimation by considering the likelihood of exposure to specific harmful organisms and the potential damage resulting from such exposure. The outcome determines the risk level on a scale ranging from 1 (low) to 3 (high).

3. Digital Plant Passports:

Phytoweb enables the generation of digital plant passports in PDF format. This feature allows for the inclusion of mandatory information such as botanical names, RUOP codes (Official Register of Professional Operators), traceability codes, and country of origin codes.

This innovative tool greatly simplifies the movement of plants and allows for the understanding and compliance with phytosanitary regulations.

It is clear how everything revolves around plant health, a crucial aspect for ornamental plants that remain actively, and even for decades, in ecological systems. Phytoweb thus aims to provide free and easy access to the necessary tools to ensure the highest level of plant health by understanding what to do to move plants (Movement rules), how to achieve certain phytosanitary targets (Risk analysis), and how to finalize the movement (Digital passport).
